Draft Mechanic Episode 35: Fabled Fruit on tap; Six Pack: Games to play this holiday season
Wow, suddenly, it’s very very cold outside. Must be the holidays on the horizon! We’re a few weeks out for our traditional Christmas trip to visit family and we’re thinking ahead - what games will we take with us this year? That led us to today’s feature, our first Six Pack list of six games to play with the family this holiday season. We’re also talking about recent plays of Fabled Fruit, Raiders of the North Sea and Imhotep. And we loop back around to Fabled Fruit for some fruity and delicious beer pairings! Finally, listener Matt Franz led us towards today’s beer segment: are there any beers that are served hot? Well, no, no, but no, but also… maybe? We found out about something interesting in our rundown of proper beer serving temperatures! Bundle up, let’s talk about some games & beer!

Draft Mechanic Episode 34: Double Six-Pack Review! Agamemnon & 7 Wonders Duel; 7 Wonders on Tap
Are you appropriately stuffed with Turkey? Are you listening from somewhere outside the world, and have eaten a different meal entirely? Either way, I hope you left some room for a heaping helping of Draft Mechanic! In thanksgiving style, we’ve filled the plate with reviews of four app implementations of board games as well as two, yep two! six-pack reviews for your enjoyment - 7 Wonders Duel and Agamemnon. Both are two-player only titles that play in about half an hour, and we’ve given both the six-pack treatment today. Sticking with that seven wonders theme, we’ve got beer pairings for the classic 7 Wonders in the Game On Tap and also a discussion on what may be the seven wonders of the beer world. That’s a lot of podcast - but don’t forget to save room for pie!

I sure hope you like hearing about games, because we’ve got two big weekends to cover in this episode of Draft Mechanic! We’re talking about the Extra Life charity “24 hour” gaming marathon, where we played from noon until a bit after 3am - and then the following weekend we hunkered down for another weekend of gaming with our local Charlotte gaming convention, MACE. We’ve picked out the best games we played at each event and we’re going to slam-pack this episode with recent play discussion. After all of that, we round it out with our on-tap picks for Captain Sonar, one of this year’s hottest party games. So enjoy!

Draft Mechanic Episode 31: Terraforming Mars; Dan, Live from Essen; GABF 2016 Results
Space. The next frontier. Well, hopefully, anyway - we should really get going! I think the first place we should start is Mars. Maybe we should consider terraforming it, building it to our needs as a launchpad to the unknown? What better way to prepare for that endeavor than playing the new release from Stronghold Games, Terraforming Mars! We’re giving this new hotness the double-feature treatment with a full review as well as an on-tap beer pairing. We’ve also got alliterative titles galore with recent plays of Potion Explosion and Schotten-Totten! For the first time, we’ve also got a guest star as Dan from our TIME Stories team went overseas for work and coincidentally ended up at Essen Spiel 2016. Dan shares his experience after his first day in the Essen hall and talks about the sights and games. We round it up today with a look at the news from the Great American Beer Festival that just took place in Colorado. Enjoy!

Time to storm the castle! Today we’ve got the Podfather, the founder and president of Stronghold Games, Stephen Buonocore joining us to talk games and beer! Stephen talks about his fall lineup, games he’s taking to Essen, talks about the Stronghold origin story, how he started working with the Engelsteins, and also we get to hear about Buonocore’s beer history as he’s a big craft beer fan as well. A match made in heaven! Or at least, a match made at the tavern! Speaking of taverns (great segue, I know, I’m very proud of it) - we’re putting the new Stronghold release The Dragon & Flagon on tap! Take a respectable breath of it, because we have happened upon a pair of seafaring games for your perusal! Our big review today is the new adventure sandbox game Islebound from Red Raven Games. For our on-tap feature, we talk about the surfing game Tavarua from Far Off Games, and we spice things up with a little bit of talk about Above and below, another Red Raven Games jam. Then thanks to a listener suggestion, we’re going to dig into what it means to be an India Pale Ale in the first installment of our new beer style segment, The Beer Primer! Draft Mechanic Episode 22: The Great Fire of London; Sushi Go on-tap; Summer Session Beer Roundup
Summer’s hot, right? Well, not as hot as the Great Fire of London. Thankfully, we only have to experience that tragedy in board game form, and boy, is it a lot better that way. A lot! So much so that we decided to do a six-pack review of Pandasaurus Games’ The Great Fire of London 1666. We also go on an Arabian journey in Tales of the Arabian Nights, get marooned on an island with the solo adventure Friday, and swing back by London for a trip On the Underground. If that wasn’t enough traveling, we’ve got some worldly brews for you with our on-tap game, the delicious drafting morsel that is Sushi Go. And then, as it’s just so, so very hot, we’ve collected some excellent low-ABV session beers that you can enjoy through the summer. Pull out that lawn chair, get under the canopy and enjoy!

This episode contains MAJOR, MASSIVE, COMPLETE SPOILERS for the T.I.M.E Stories scenario “Under the Mask.” Jake, Danielle, Dan and Kyle recorded their debriefing directly after finishing the scenario and picked apart every card in the deck. We discuss our characters, the new mechanics, the overall story and what it means for the future of the T.I.M.E agency. For some inexplicable reason, however, this audio file has nearly an hour and a half of content - strange, since our discussion only lasted approximately 53 minutes and 40 seconds.
