Draft Mechanic Episode 22: The Great Fire of London; Sushi Go on-tap; Summer Session Beer Roundup

Summer’s hot, right? Well, not as hot as the Great Fire of London. Thankfully, we only have to experience that tragedy in board game form, and boy, is it a lot better that way. A lot! So much so that we decided to do a six-pack review of Pandasaurus Games’ The Great Fire of London 1666. We also go on an Arabian journey in Tales of the Arabian Nights, get marooned on an island with the solo adventure Friday, and swing back by London for a trip On the Underground. If that wasn’t enough traveling, we’ve got some worldly brews for you with our on-tap game, the delicious drafting morsel that is Sushi Go. And then, as it’s just so, so very hot, we’ve collected some excellent low-ABV session beers that you can enjoy through the summer. Pull out that lawn chair, get under the canopy and enjoy!

Draft Mechanic Episode 10: Mysterium on Tap, Patchwork, Babel, Euphoria, Deception, Nations, Buyouts & Mergers

It’s the last episode of 2015! Over the Christmas break we visited Empire Board Game Library in Albuquerque NM and raided their shelves for gaming goodness. We dug into the two-player battlefields of Patchwork and Babel, and then displaced some workers in the land of Euphoria. On a second visit, we stretched our lying and deduction muscles with the Dukes of Dice with a few rounds of Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. Finally, we stood the test of time with a mammoth five-player game of Nations. Our game on tap this episode is Mysterium, and we’ve got four spectral brews to help you glean understanding from the other side. Finally - 2015 has been a year of buyouts and mergers in both the game and beer industry - we dig deep into the parallels and differences and discuss whether or not we should be scared of Big Beer and Big Game.

There’s a ton of games to talk about so sit back, relax, grab a pint and enjoy the show!

Draft Mechanic Episode 8: Thanksgaming! Specter Ops on Tap, and brewery membership societies.

Happy start-to-the-holidays! We’re full of turkey, beer, and board games. Well, maybe not full of games, but filled with the goodness of gaming with the family and gaming away from home! We visited a great games cafe in Boston, lost all our money in Last Will, reached for the sky in Dice Town, and became regulars of 221 Baker Street in Sherlock Holmes, Consulting Detective. Our secret agent skills were put to the test with Specter Ops in our On Tap segment. Finally, we answer the question of what you should get the beer geek in your life with a discussion of brewery membership societies. Grab your favorite holiday ale and join us for another round!

Today on Draft Mechanic, we talk about Libertalia and Dead Man's Draw. This gets us thinking - what makes the pirate theme so ripe for use in board games? For our game on tap, we feature Seasons and pair it up with excellent beers to represent the four seasons. We close out the show discussing the results from the 2015 Great American Beer Festival in Colorado.
